The history of the hotel
Eikum Hotel was founded by Brita and Per Eikum in 1919. At that time, the hotel had only two beds. The price of a cup of coffee and to big pieces of cake was 0,25 ¿re and the price of dinner was 0,50 ¿re.
As guests from foreign countries gradually became visitors, the hotel expanded. In 1956 the hotel had 15 rooms. This year Eikum Hotel was burnt down. Four other houses in the center of Hafslo was burnt down in the same fire, including the building of the local authority. The next year, the hotel reopened, this time with 19 rooms and 35 beds.
In the 1970's Eikum Hotel expanded with a new wing and the old rooms were extended with showers and toilets. In 1980, a new dining room was built, seating approximately 150 persons. Since then, the hotel is further extended and all the old rooms are renovated.
